Preparation for TROPHY ROOM my first solo show at WAYWARD GALLERY London. 2010
I love the layout and overall look of this issue of Everyday Magazine by Mikael Ploysand. It was done as a semester assignment at Westerdals School of Communication in 2009.
It’s stimulating, beautifully balanced, and visually striking.
“Everyday Magazine is a magazine about graphic designers & other creatives, focusing on the people behind the works rather than the work itself. The magazine tries to keep to what magazines do best, instead of trying to imitate what the internet already does better. Therefore, the focus is mainly traditional journalism & photojournalism, resulting in a magazine that you sit down and take your time with, a contrast to the restlessness of the youtube-generation.”
The objective of this project was to create a book based on a site in Milwaukee. I chose the Grand Cinema in downtown Milwaukee. I visited the site to photograph it and to discuss the history and current state with the maintenance manager of the building. The book to begins with a full color photo, representing the creation and thriving times of the theatre. As the pages go on, the images become desaturated to represent the vacant state of the theatre today.

This is a booklet part of my final project that visualises sound.

Future Glyphs by Matthew DiVito
Also known as Mr. Div, Matthew uses a strange blend of alchemy, magic, and the darkest art of them all: geometry to create these dazzling animated GIF’s, scaled up from the micro-sized atomic world of protons and starstuffs that we’re all made of.
